I believe that our current system is unfair and that property tax appraisals are simply out-of-control.

I support legislation to lower the current 10 percent appraisal cap to protect Texas homeowners from being taxed out of their homes through skyrocketing property tax appraisals.

I believe Texas property owners deserve the security of knowing that their property values will not leave them behind, and local taxing entities should no longer be able to hide behind appraisal hikes to raise more revenue.

I believe that if local taxing entities need additional revenue, they must stand accountable by raising the tax rate and make their case to the public.

In short, I believe that it is time to provide real property tax relief with real reforms that control appraisals and restore accountability to the process.

Therefore, I join Governor Rick Perry, Representative Dwayne Bohac and other elected officials from around the state in calling on the Legislature to pass real property tax reform and bring this much-needed relief to the taxpayers of Texas.
